Director's Job
Responsibilities
i.
Responsible for the overall artistic vision and maintaining the artistic unity
of the production.
ii. In concert with the remainder of the artistic team, he or she
is responsible for conveying this vision to the cast both as a concept and as
practical movement and dialogue delivery.
iii. Prior to auditions:

Familiarizing him- or herself with the show
-
Setting up an initial artistic vision
- Preparing
items for the audition process

Work with the remainder of the artistic team to finalize the artistic vision
iv. Attending all cast auditions
v. In concert with the remainder of the production team, casting
the show
vi. During Rehearsal Process:
1. Attend
all rehearsals
2. Be
prepared to block scenes and give character notes and background to the actors
vii. During the week of the show:
1. Give the
cast character notes
2. Work with
the cast for warm ups
viii. During the performances of the show, barring any manpower
shortages, the director should only be present in the theatre as an audience
member.

Stage Manager's Job Responsibilities
i. The stage manager is the primary link between the production
team and the Company
ii. The stage manager is responsible for the overall coordination
and execution of all aspects of the production: artistic, technical and
financial.
iii. Responsible for ensuring that the director’s vision is
practical and feasible and that, once the show has opened, remains consistent
throughout the run of the performance
iv. Prior to cast auditions:
-
Familiarizing him- or herself with the show and the production and rehearsals
spaces

Creating copies of prepared audition material.

Creating and posting sign-up sheets for auditions

Booking rooms for initial auditions and call backs
v. Coordinating all audition days
vi. During the rehearsal process:
1.
Generating weekly schedules
2. Ensuring
the Company is aware of all schedules and upcoming events
3. Ensuring
the prompt script is up to date
4.
Coordinating rehearsal days
5. Coordinating
all technical elements of the show (if a technical director is not hired)
vii. During tech week:
1.
Coordinate the load-in at the theatre
2.
Coordinate the technical setup at the theatre
viii. Calling the show (i.e. ensuring all elements of the show
proceed on time including cast, lighting and sound cues and set changes)
